30 October 2009Minister for Aboriginal Affairs Paul Lynch and Member for Balmain Verity Firth today announced $1000 in sponsorship for the 2009 Tranby Aboriginal College Student Graduation Dinner.
Tranby Aboriginal College is a pioneering Indigenous adult education and training co- operative based in Glebe that attracts students from all over Australia.
"The NSW Government is proud to announce their support for the 2009 Tranby Aboriginal College Student Graduation Dinner, which will recognise the achievements of its outstanding students," Mr Lynch said.
Ms Firth said Tranby College has assisted thousands of Indigenous Australians to obtain a vocational education since its establishment in 1958.
"In addition to this, Tranby has been a loud and proud voice on social justice issues and Aboriginal rights throughout its history," Ms Firth said.
The Tranby Graduation Committee has been established to help source sponsorship for the event, which will take place on 13 November 2009.
"I encourage the community to get behind this deserving organisation and lend their support," Mr Lynch said.
