Recognising excellence in Aboriginal communities

Nominations are open for the Premier's Excellence Awards for Leadership in Aboriginal Communities. Minister for Aboriginal Affairs Paul Lynch said the awards recognised the strong leadership and the tireless effort of Aboriginal people in New South Wales. "There are thousands of people investing time and energy in their communities across New South Wales," he said. "These awards provide an opportunity for both communities and the Government to recognise the valuable contribution of Aboriginal people to building strong communities," Mr Lynch said. Nominations are being sought in the following categories:

  • Health - Wellbeing: Body and Mind
  • Health - Healthy Environment: Employment; Building Community Leadership
  • Strong Communities - Family Support and Assistance; and Education: Learning and Knowledge
To nominate, go to the Aboriginal Affairs NSW website at www.daa.nsw.gov.au

Nominations close on 21 October 2009 and winners will be announced soon afterwards.
