Support for Redfern-Waterloo Aboriginal organisations
02 October 2009The NSW Government has dedicated a total of $3,300 to support two Aboriginal organisations in the Redfern-Waterloo area.
Minister for Aboriginal Affairs Paul Lynch said the funding would help support the Babana Aboriginal Men's Group and the Inner City Aboriginal Women's Consultative Group.
Member for Heffron Kristina Keneally said both groups provided a valuable service to Aboriginal community in the Redfern-Waterloo area.
“Since Babana was formed in 2006, about 40 to 50 people have met on a monthly basis, Ms Keneally said.
The Babana Aboriginal Mens Group work tirelessly in the Redfern-Waterloo community to support, enable and empower Aboriginal men and their families.
Babana have also been involved in the Redfern community including the Aboriginal Diggers Anzac Day March and Christmas for kids on the Block.
The Inner City Aboriginal Women's Consultative Group has been providing a voice for women since it was established in 2005.
