Support for La Perouse Youth Haven
02 October 2009The NSW Government has dedicated $3300 for La Perouse Youth Haven under the Community Working Party funding program.
Minister for Aboriginal Affairs Paul Lynch said the funding would help support the operation of the Youth Haven that has been in operation since 2005.
Mr Lynch said the La Perouse Youth Haven was focused on improving the education and health standards of local Aboriginal children and young people.
Member for Maroubra Michael Daley said the Youth Haven played an important part in the community life of La Perouse through initiatives like the Lapa Deadlys Leadership team and Ngarandhi Youth Health Project.
Programs offered by the Youth Haven include outreach, the study centre, drop-in, health and well-being camps, school holiday programs, a School Certificate Course and a leadership program for young adults aged between 18 and 35, Mr Daley said.
This funding will support the valuable work of the Youth Haven staff and the people who rely on its services, he said.
