Delivering better services through DAA Walgett office
16 September 2009Minister for Aboriginal Affairs Paul Lynch said the NSW Government was serious about delivering better services for Aboriginal people in the State's North-West.
Mr Lynch today visited the Department of Aboriginal Affairs office in Walgett to hear about the work of the new Partnership Community Project Officers.

Mr Lynch said the Partnership Community Project Officers involved Aboriginal people in the decision-making.
"These officers are in locations where Aboriginal communities and government agencies have been working closely together," he said.
"Together, they will be able to identify local needs and develop action plans to respond to these needs and improve the delivery of services," Mr Lynch said.
"Working in partnership with Aboriginal communities and Aboriginal people is the only way forward for any strategy to close the gap in health, social and economic outcomes," he said.
During his visit to Walgett, Mr Lynch also visited the Aboriginal Medical Service, the Walgett Gamilaroi Community Working Party, Walgett Aboriginal Young Leaders, the Walgett Local Aboriginal Land Council and the Dhariwaa Elders Group.
