Itha-Mari leading the way
05 August 2009
Minister for Aboriginal Affairs Paul Lynch today visited Itha-Mari Ltd, gaining a first-hand look at the company's achievements around Dareton.
Mr Lynch said the company had built houses and undertaken repairs and maintenance to others under the Government's Aboriginal Communities Development Program (ACDP).
Itha-Mari has also taken on additional work in Bourke and Menindee.
"In Dareton, the company has constructed six houses and provided repairs and maintenance to 30 houses," Mr Lynch said.
He said Itha-Mari was playing a positive role in providing jobs and apprenticeships.
"Training and job creation in Aboriginal communities is a high priority for the NSW Government," Mr Lynch said.
"It not only helps build our regional economies but provides career paths and role models for Aboriginal people to aspire to," he said.
