NSW Government supports 2007 Deadlys
02 October 2007The NSW Government's Department of Aboriginal Affairs is supporting a national event dedicated to the recognition of Indigenous excellence in sport, music, entertainment and community involvement.
The Deadlys is the largest awards ceremony of its type in Australia, and the awards highlight the cream of Indigenous talent and celebrate Aboriginal culture.
They celebrate Aboriginal successes, and the contributions made by Aboriginal men and women across a wide range of endeavour.
The Deadlys promote excellence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music, sport, entertainment and community, and recognise individuals and organisations that are achieving in all these areas
The awards provide a forum for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to come together in public to celebrate cultural pride and achievement.
This year's Deadlys were held on Thursday 27 September 2007 at the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House.
A delayed telecast of the Deadlys will be broadcast on SBS TV on Tuesday October 2 2007, and on Imparja Television to an audience of almost 200,000 people and simulcasted through the National Indigenous Radio Service.
